WHAT TO EXPECT
Below we’ll answer a list of Frequently Asked Questions to try to eliminate surprises. If, however, you don’t find an answer to your question, please do not hesitate to contact us and we’ll respond ASAP!
What Can I Expect at the Gathering?
When you arrive at the Worship Gathering, you will likely be greeted by one of
our Welcome Team members. Don’t worry, they won’t creep you out. Their job is to guide you and your family and help you feel comfortable. Feel free to ask them to give you something free!
The worship service will typically consist of music, teaching from the Bible by a
trained communicator, and prayer. Every 4 to 6 weeks we observe “Common
Sunday” in which three or four people share stories instead of one person preaching a sermon.
Our group personality is relaxed and casual. You may experience this in our
music and the way we relate to each other. We won’t push, pressure, or single
you out during the service. We hope you can make yourself at home with us.
What are the Options for Children?
We know you treasure your kids and that you know what’s best for them. So, we let YOU decide whether to keep them in the Worship Gathering with you or allow them to join our children’s ministries. We offer Nursery (ages birth-2 years), Scouts (ages 3-4), Explorers (grades K-5), and Apprentices (grades 6-8). Your child’s safety and well being are very important to us. We have ALL of our childcare volunteers screened not only by our community, but also by a local, state, and federal screening service.
Upon arrival on any given Sunday, you may choose the healthiest atmosphere for your kiddos. We only ask that if you choose to bring them into the Worship Gathering, you would be considerate of others and take the child out if they get overly restless. If they are attending their children’s ministry, we will check them into our childcare rooms and will allow only you or someone you pre-approve to pick them up after the service. You are welcome to come with them to their room and help get them settled in. We are glad to assist you in any way we can! Please let us know how we can help!
Is there Security?
YES! All volunteers working for our ministry are screened by a local, state, and federal screening service. During our gathering, we have a team of volunteers dedicated to patrolling the building, hallways, and entrances.
Is there a Dress Code?
The best descriptor of how most folks dress at Rock Hill “relaxed.” Come dressed in what makes you feel comfortable-someone else will likely be dressed in a similar way. We just ask that you do come dressed!
Am I Expected to Give Money?
If you are a guest or not actively involved in our community, we would ask that you just relax and enjoy your time with us, we do not expect you to make a financial gift during the service. Our ministry is funded through the generosity of those who have made a commitment of participation with us.
How will I Know if there is a Change in the Normal Schedule?
A few times a year we “call in sick” on our Sunday service and serve in the community, have a picnic or splash around at the lake. So check our events calendar on the website to ensure that the Sunday you are planning to visit isn’t one of those rare Sundays. If we have a special event planned for that day, we would love for you to join us! Feel free to call us (785.813.1807) if you have questions about an event. We also post a sign of the venue change at the entrance door of the Doubletree and make a note on our Homepage if this is the case.
